News Brief: Hunger Still at Astronomical Levels

Recent news reports have indicated that the number of hungry people in the world has dropped to 925 million - down from just over 1 billion.

The cause of the decline was primarily attributed "to better economic prospects in 2010 and the fall in food prices since mid-2008."

It would seem that the number of hungry is highly dependent on people's ability to make money and the price of food. Further reductions in the price of food should help to further alleviate the massive levels of chronic hunger in the world. Keeping food prices low should be a worldwide priority for the benefit of the poor.

The chronic food crisis was the subject of a recent book available on Amazon.com - Spontaneous Combustion: What you don't know about Science and Humanity will blow your mind!
